Your Contribution Can Make a Big Difference! [14 Dec 2006|02:10am]

[ mood | grateful ]

I'm posting here because I truly believe that together we can make a difference to the quality of our lives and the world around us!

"No two minds ever come together without thereby creating a third, invisible intangible force, which may be likened to a third mind" - Napoleon Hill

Our goals, intentions, desires, and dreams can manifest easily and gracefully through the alliance of two or more people joining together in the spirit of clarity, contribution, gratitude, joy and serenity.

Haha, if only I had the money! [13 Oct 2006|04:33pm]

Dear Caitlin,

In the past year, audiences around the world were captivated by the love story of Ennis Del Mar and Jack Twist. Now, you have an opportunity to bring home a part of what made Brokeback Mountain such a special film.

The producers of Brokeback Mountain, in partnership with Focus Features and seenON.com, are auctioning the movie's entire wardrobe, with proceeds benefiting the Human Rights Campaign. Click here for your chance to bid on a unique memento from this powerful and important film.

Jeans, cowboy hats, boots, and other items worn by the actors during filming will be auctioned online at www.seenON.com from October 13th to 20th. You've only got a few short days before the auction ends, so click here to see the complete list of available items and start bidding today.

From actor Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway's outspoken support of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender equality to director Ang Lee's moving acceptance speech at the Academy Awards, the cast and crew of Brokeback Mountain have demonstrated a strong commitment to acceptance and diversity. HRC is proud to continue our relationship with the producers of Brokeback Mountain with this online auction.

I hope you'll take this opportunity to bring home a piece of Brokeback Mountain and help support the fight for GLBT equality. Good luck, and happy bidding.

We'd appreciate your input! [29 Jun 2006|01:33am]

Hi, I'm posting here because it is glbtq related and I feel strongly that your input can really make a difference. However, if it is not in alignment with the essence of this community, please feel free to release this post.

I want to introduce a brand-new homo/bi/t friendly community: happy_gay_life This is a community dedicated to building a positive glbtq image by sharing joyful and constructive experiences of being glbtq.

Ever wonder why there are so few glbtq stories/movies with happy endings? I did.

I figure out that it has to come from us. We've got to count our blessings and share these lovely moments with each other: the special moments that bring smiles to our faces, that make our hearts sing, that tickle us, that move us to tears of joy ... on a daily basis.

Every time you share a line of joy, you're contributing to creating a better life for yourself and building a positive glbtq image.

Come! Join us and have some fun!

so.... [05 Jun 2006|01:22pm]

[ mood | nostalgic ]

joe in the pub has expressed an interest in the gsa next year. he does game club, and wants to invite us (well, you guys) over for a visit sometime to game club.

he's an amazing guy and i think it would be a lot of fun.

also, he mentioned something about red and white day... the day that is supposed to advertise clubs. i didn't know anything about it, but apparently it happens, and joe was wondering what we'd be interested in doing. he thinks it would be cool to pair up again. ^___^ he had a funny pitch for the announcements on the day they invite us: imagine what can happen when gays and nerds get together... hahah. yeah. i love that guy.

so... last meeting on wednesday.
sadness. i love you guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

((i don't know how to spell what rami calls me...))

I registered our school online with GLSEN for the day of silence, and they should be giving us some resources for that.

I wasn't there yesterday, I was really sick, so, what exactly went on? Mrs. Stockton told me that you guys talked a little bit about what you're gonna do for stickers (something about using pins this time?) and said you guys just generally went over the whole of the plans you're making.

Records [11 Mar 2006|07:10pm]

Well shit.

I actually tried to put up all our old minutes/attendance records/etc.

I didn't know that back dated entries weren't possible in communities.

So what should I do?

gay rights debate [08 Mar 2006|05:00pm]

[ mood | ecstatic ]

thought you guys might find this interesting. i'm gonna try and watch it...but some of the times are really arbitrary...

This debate took place on Thursday of last week, and I've heard that it was really disturbing how hateful Dr. Hutcherson really was. One person I know had the perspective that it wasn't really an intelligent debate because Dr. Hutcherson kept reverting back to "because the Bible says so". But if you're interested in seeing it for yourself, Channel 21 - The Seattle Channel, is broadcasting it at the following times.

Broadcast Times:

Oh yeah, thank David for this email. ^__^

p-units [02 Mar 2006|02:01pm]

[ mood | aggravated ]

Basically...I'm sick of conservative parents.
I guess someone saw the announcement, and called Mrs. Stockton complaining...
"What kind of movies are you watching that you have to have a permission slip??"

Wtf, mate? We had to have a permission slip to watch Mi Familia last year because there was a short sex scene in it... annnd, if I remember correctly, we had to have one for All's Quiet on the Western Front in World History. That was about World War 1 from the German perspective...
There's not even sex in Hedwig. Well, not really. There's not a traditional "sex scene" but you see a naked man covering himself with candy. That's about it. (Even if my memory sucks, I'm pretty sure that's it.
But I'm leaving the movie with Stockton so she can watch it over the weekend and see what she thinks about it. Maybe we can get away with it next week or something. Who knows.
Damn. I hate controlling people. I think that if they require permission slips for this movie because of questionable content (when really it's about how the parents feel about the content) then they should require one for the terrorism movies or even the war videos. I feel really strongly when it comes to those videos, and I know a lot of people who feel about as strongly as I do about them. I mean jeez, I get really worked up about some of these videos. I got really mad when we talked about how some places don't believe that the Holocaust actually happened...someone thought it was funny and I really wanted to punch him. Lame...

Okay...so this turned out to be wayyy longer than I planned... just venting I guess. Oh well..
See you guys later. (In like 10 minutes, but you'll read this after... You knew that though...whatever.)

Okie...so I'm picking up the posters tomorrow. I have tons of homework tonight...otherwise I'd get them tonight. But yeah.
So everyone should plan on putting up posters for a bit on Thursday. Kay??
Also, I finally just went and bought Hedwig and the Angry Inch. So now we can watch it whenever. Whee!

I guess that's all I have to say. Also, I'm going to GLOBE tomorrow for sure.

Woohoo! This is great news!

State gay-rights bill passed 29 years after effort began

"State law bans discrimination based on race, sex, religion, marital status, disability and other categories. The bill, which takes effect 90 days after adjournment, adds sexual orientation to that list."
